I don't think it's so much of an outpouring of support for the old logo, but rather a great disdain for the new logo.

The blue box logo is surely a recognizable classic. However, it's showing its age. I'm not so sure in the constantly revolving and evolving market of clothing merchandise that you want a logo that looks tired.

I'm tempted to say they should just tweak the blue box and freshen up the serifs. Maybe give them a more slab serif feel. But that might look oddly out of place since people know the Gap logo so well.

And the new, now removed, logo is so lifeless, misdirected, and confused. I think it reflects the direction of this once proud franchise.

Working with the right vendors that can help develop high-profile, creative packaging solutions at a responsible production cost is key. You can have a Diddy gold-plated package for your gum, but not many people will want to pay a couple Grovers for a pack of gum.

I'm going to hunt down some Rain® gum. It's a tingling spearmint I can't resist.

I need a clarification. It appears that you're saying that visual design of a web page will indirectly effect its SEO ranking. ugly page = less clicks = lower SEO ranking. Right?

There's no way for search engine algorithms to determine if a page has bad design and as result give it a lower ranking. It's the idea that people will see a thumbnail preview of the web page and see that it's unappealing and decide not to click on that link. So it's still the activity of page visits that factors into the SEO ranking.

These are all great suggestions. Like any successful marketing campaign, using Facebook requires a commitment of time and well-planned ideas. I do a lot of strategic planning with associations and university/college departments. When I lead planning sessions I ask the client to gather a diverse group of stakeholders to think together, but not think alike. I also ask a for "wild card" participant - someone who doesn't know the culture, history, politics, etc. so they can get some truly unfiltered perspectives, opinions, and ideas! Oftentimes the wild cards are the most active contributors to the thinking process!
